This album is great. It has a very tonal creepy and mysterious quality to it and could have been the soundtrack for the movie Blue Velvet, which was released around the same time this was recorded. The title track, I Only Have Eyes For You, is a brilliantly done version of the old classic. Lament opens very slowly with an almost ambient quality to it before the rest of the brass kicks in. Coming Back, Jamacia has that, you guessed it, dub/ska feel to it. A pretty interesting track, and well played, but my least favorite on here. Nonet follows in the same lines as Lament, with track length as well. This time it kind of plays more as a story almost. It carries on different themes throughout the 14+ minutes and takes you on a journey. The closing track, When the Spirit Returns is another mysterious sounding track on here. Overall this CD was worth a listen, and a purchase, even though it's not 100% my cup-o-tea. Slow, moody, and classy jazz all around.
